What is ALUMGA?
ALUMGA is a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to get mentorship from successful entrepreneurs and funding from investors through a 3 phase program. In Phase 1, you will submit your business idea to ALUMGA. If your idea is chosen, you'll be assigned a mentor to guide you and develop your idea in Phase 2. In Phase 3, you will pitch your business proposal to potential investors to get funding.
Who runs ALUMGA?
ALUMGA is run by likeminded entrepreneurs who want to help develop new entrepreneurs. The partners fund the program.
Can I join?
Yes, of course! Anyone with a business idea can join the program.
How do I join?
Submit your idea (proposal) through the ALUMGA website form. The ALUMGA team will then contact you.
What happens after I submit my proposal?
The ALUMGA team will choose successful proposals and advise on the right cohort to join. The timings/schedule of each cohort is shared on the ALUMGA website.
Can I choose my mentor?
The mentor shall be assigned to you. However, you can request for your preference.
Will I get to keep my IP?
Yes, the IP will belong to you. To protect your IP, you should explore registering your trademarks, copyrights, and patents with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
Can I quit?
You can, whenever you choose to.
What happens on Pitching Day?
You will pitch your business idea to a panel of judges (and investors), proposing required funds, equity and exit strategies.
Will I get funding? How much?
If the investors are convinced, they will fund your business. The quantum will be determined during the pitching session. There is no fixed amount.
What happens after Pitching Day?
If you successfully rope in an investor, you will pursue your business further with the investor(s). At this point, you would have graduated from the ALUMGA program.
