PHASE 1: APPLICATION AND IDEA SUBMISSION

Application Guidelines

  • Open to all university students (undergraduate and postgraduate)
  • Teams of 1-5 students can participate
  • Business ideas can be in any field (tech, health, social impact, etc.)

Submission

  • 1 minute of pitch video and a business proposal sent to alumga@consurv.com.my
  • Follow our TikTok @alumga

Timeline

  • Application period: 8 weeks
  • Deadline: 31 December 2024
  • Review period: 1-2 weeks after submission deadline

Outcome

Top 10-15 teams are selected to move forward to the next phase

PHASE 2: IDEA DEVELOPMENT AND MENTORSHIP

Workshops and Training

Conduct 1 workshop and a couple of online sessions e.g., WhatsApp (over a few weeks) on:

  • Business model development
  • Financial planning
  • Pitch deck creation
  • Presentation and communication skills

Mentorship

  • Each team is paired with an experienced mentor
  • Mentors will help refine the business plan, give feedback on market research, financials, and guide them in preparing a pitch

Pitch Practice

  • Organize practice sessions where teams present to a small audience and receive feedback
  • Allow teams to tweak their presentations and strategy before the final event

PHASE 3: FINAL PITCH EVENT

Event Format

  • Teams: 10-15 teams present their business ideas
  • Judges (Sharks) are a panel of 4-6 judges including:
    • Entrepreneurs
    • Venture capitalists/investors
    • Faculty members with business expertise
    • Alumni with entrepreneurial backgrounds

Pitch Format

  • Pitch Duration: 5 minutes per team
  • Q&A Session: 5-7 minutes for judges to ask questions and challenge ideas
  • Judging Criteria:
    • Innovation and uniqueness
    • Market potential and target audience
    • Feasibility and execution plan
    • Team performance and presentation
    • Potential for impact or profitability
